West-stand proposal: the curved façade and its changing column rhythm
West-stand proposal: the curved façade and its changing column rhythm

A proposal for the west side of Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium, translating Verdi’s La Traviata into the rhythm of structure and façade.

Developed within the Teatro dell’Ego thesis, the stadium proposal reinterprets the western curve of Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium in Como. It restores the intended symmetry of the stadium and opens its frontage as a place to sit, meet and move between the theatre and the lakefront city.

The Brindisi theme from Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata guides the structural sequence. A 120-degree arc is divided into thirty four-degree intervals, defining thirty-one sections. The musical phrase informs the changing steel-column profiles and the bending walls beneath the stands. Original note-to-section studies, axonometries and the site plan show how music becomes an architectural relationship experienced through movement.

Form follows music.
As you move through the space, corridor becomes feminine, you become the masculine.
Invisible light is hidden in d-archness that ego does not seek.
