Lighthouse and keeper’s home on the coastal headland
A lighthouse and its keeper’s home form a single composition, drawing their lines from Foça’s coastal landscape.
A lighthouse cannot be separated from its keeper, nor the keeper from a family life. The proposal brings these relationships together: a slender tower rises above a home that follows the rocky headland, opening toward the sea.
The curved plan responds to the contours of the coast, while the terrace extends domestic life into the landscape. Wind turbines are proposed within the tower to convert coastal wind into electricity for the lighthouse at night.
